Editorial Standards & How We Test

Sleeperholic exists to help you sleep better — and that only works if you can trust what you read here. This page explains who writes our guides, how we evaluate the products we recommend, and the standards every article is held to.
Who writes Sleeperholic
Every guide is written and edited by our small in-house team, led by our founder. We're sleep obsessives first and publishers second: we read the research, try the products, and write the guide we wish we'd had. You'll always find a named author on each article — never an anonymous byline.
How we evaluate products
We don't rank a product we wouldn't consider ourselves. When we recommend a mattress, pillow, protector, or accessory, our picks are shaped by:
- Hands-on use and real-world fit — how a product actually performs across sleeping positions, body types, and common problems like back pain or overheating.
- Materials and construction — foam density, coil type, cover breathability, fill adjustability, and durability signals that separate a product that lasts from one that flattens in a year.
- Verified owner feedback — patterns across large numbers of independent reviews, weighted toward long-term owners rather than first-week impressions.
- Value, not just price — whether a product earns its cost, and who it's genuinely right (and wrong) for.
If a product only suits a specific sleeper, we say so plainly rather than calling it "best for everyone."
Accuracy and sourcing
We link to primary sources — sleep research, health organizations, and manufacturer specifications — wherever we make a factual claim. Product dimensions, materials, and features are taken from the manufacturer and checked against current listings. If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the correction.
When articles are updated
Sleep advice and the products on the market both change, so our guides are living documents. We review our most-read articles regularly and refresh them as recommendations, research, or availability shift. The "Last updated" date on each article reflects the most recent substantive review.
How we make money
Sleeperholic is reader-supported. Some links are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them — at no extra cost to you. This never changes which products we recommend or where they rank. Our recommendations are made independently of any commission, and we recommend products we believe in regardless of whether they earn us anything. See our affiliate disclosure for details.
A note on health
Our content is educational and is not medical advice. Sleep problems can have real underlying causes — if a sleep issue is persistent or affecting your health, please talk to a qualified healthcare professional.

Founder of Sleeperholic and a lifelong sleep obsessive. My real interest is the theory of good sleep — what to do before bedtime, what a genuinely restful night looks like, and how to sleep well every night. I hope you enjoy reading everything about sleep as much as I enjoy writing it.
